Izzy and Gene, two brothers from Centurion joined forces after they both started to perfect the art of guitar playing. With Gene's best friend, Ben, who tackled the vocals, they formed an alliance and started New Born Fire. At that time they were still two members short and approached drummer Leon, to power up their engine on the drums. The four of them started writing songs and pulling their act together. Later on Leon phoned a buddy of his, Slade, to join him on the rhythm section, but unfortunately a year later he was replaced by all new bassist Alpha Love. The new kid.
The band started in August 2005 and quickly got a few gigs together. We entered a battle of the bands who Oppikoppi and White Horse Whiskey hosted witch was held in Zeplins Pretoria, they’ve also competed in the first Square Wave Sessions battle, and won both. The band later on played big festivals such as Woodstock 8 in 2006 and Motherfudd in 2007.
They are a fully professional and hard working band, with a unique image and awesome stage presence. They're a hard rock band who's inspiring, with no offending lyrics. This is definitely one of the best bands in South Africa with their honest yet haunting sound!
