HISTORY OF CREOPHAGOUS. Creophagous, the brainchild of guitarist Grant Lazenby (former founding member of Afflicted Truth and Divinity Denied) and Lycanine was formed at the end of 2004. The idea was to start a brutal gore death metal band with a different flavour to it.

Hence the birth of Creophagous, the story of a man who starts transforming into a flesh eating, murdering alien beast. Grant started working on the material for the band with long time vocalist and collaborator Jakes Lotz (formerly of Azraellas Sorrow and Divinity Denied).

After a short while guitarist John Christie joined the band. The band searched for a drummer but no one dedicated or capable enough was found so Grant decided to use a drum machine. The band also tried to find a dedicated bass player but no one could be found, so the band decided to start playing without a bass player. The band started playing a couple gigs in and around their home town and started gaining respect and popularity for their savage aggressive style.

After a short while Grants brother, Hilton (formerly of Afflicted Truth and Ethos), was bandless. He was asked to join Creophagous and after his first jam session with the band he decided to join on vocals and guitar. The band now had a double vocal onslaught.

Shortly after this the band played at Witchfest 2005 ( a festival put together by witchdoctor records.), the best show the band had played up until then. Shortly after this Jakes was forced to leave the band due to family commitments. The band then proceeded to play several more bone crushing shows towards the end of the year.

The band then set about recording their debut album, "The Beast Within". The recording was completed and the album was released in april 2006. The beginning of 2006 marked itself with the addition of a new member to the band, Andrew Brecher on guitar. Then a couple months later due to personal reasons John decided to leave the band. On John's departure the band found a bassist in the form of Thomas Wagner.

After a short while the band added Brendon Olivier (formerly of Code of Silence) to the lineup on guitar, bringing the guitar onslaught back to 4. In June 2006 Hilton decided to leave the band and restart Afflicted Truth with Thomas helping him in that. Andrew took over vocals and Brendon and Grant the guitar onslaught. Shortly after this the band hooked up with drummer, Stefan Bartels (ex-Dyskonnect). This marked a major milestone in the band as Creophagous had never had a human drummer before this. And so Creophagous' slaughtering spree continues!!!
