Biography
Sweden’s DREAM EVIL, a total guaranty for metal-quality at its finest, return after some while of silence and line-up confusion to spread the word of metal once again: “United”. Reminding fans to raise their fists, bang their heads, wipe the intense metal frown from their faces: DREAM EVIL incite smiles and sing-alongs with every triumphant chorus, every blistering guitar lead, and every soaring metal scream. Summoning images of traditional metal powerhouses Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, Scorpions and Dio, bands whose style and showmanship have fused with their celebrated musical ability, the members of DREAM EVIL together build a beast larger than the band’s individual members.
Centered around legendary guitarist and metal producer Fredrik Nordström (Opeth, Hammerfall, In Flames), DREAM EVIL unites Niklas Isfeldt’s commanding vocal talent, Peter Stålfors’ thundering bass, newcomers Mark Black’s (who replaces Gus G.) ripping guitar work, and Pat Power’s (who replaces Snowy Shaw) crushing drumming to create their crowd-pleasing anthems. Having toured Europe (with Hammerfall, Masterplan and most recently with Saxon), the United Kingdom and Japan (three times!), taken the stage at various European festivals (Wacken, Earthshaker, Sweden Rock) and having had TV success as well with their Patric Ullaeus (Within Temptation, Dimmu Borgir, Lacuna Coil) directed monster-clip for their previous album’s title track “The Book Of Heavy Metal”, DREAM EVIL have won acclaim at every step of their fast rising career, which covers four full-length releases since 2002.
Recorded at Sweden’s Studio Fredman, Fredrik Nordström’s studio, with its superb production “United” captures the band’s extraordinary performance all throughout the 12 featured songs, smoothly uniting all of the best elements to heavy music: Straight forward, stomping riffing, melodic and harmonic passages in abundance, hookline-on-hookline vocals, epic atmosphere but also bittersweet ballad-approach and thunderous speed outbursts. While the 11 own new compositions successfully bridge traditional hardrock with 80’s metal and modern-edged power metal, the album’s last song happens to be a cover version (featuring former DREAM EVIL members Gus G. and Snowy Shaw!) of “My Number One”, the track with which Greek artist Helena Paparizou won 2005’s Eurovision Song Contest. Be ready to join the battle, be ready to support the metal cause, be ready for we are all “United”.
“Melodic heavy metal that’s about big riffs and catchy songs.”
METAL MANIACS (USA)
”…the ultimate bible of heavy metal.“
METAL HAMMER (D) on the band’s 2004 released “The Book Of Heavy Metal” album.
