Starting off as the vision from loyal fans created by the support of all the decent and brilliant local bands, A Fix for Grace came together the first time under the name Born of Sin. Drummer Steve Stephanou was approached by guitarist Jason Pretorius and current Chromium guitarist, Matt Engelbrecht, to form the basic backbone of the band. With only one possible solution he could think of, Steve brought in long time friend, Berno Muller, on vocals. One man that was always keen for a sideline project was Corporate War bassist Wayne Seady.
Matt decided to leave Born of Sin and felt that Heavy Metal band Chromium was more what he was aiming for. Being common knowledge that true Metal talent in South Africa, and especially in Port Elizabeth, is VERY scarce and limited, Berno approached Justin du Preez straight away, after Corporate War parted their ways, to persuade him to join the band. Justin accepted as they have been great friends since before Corporate War even started, and Berno and Steve have always been loyal supporters of the band. Born of Sin was also a totally different style to what Justin was busy with and something he always wanted to do. This also meant that Wayne could fully focus on Born of Sin since he has always been Justin`s right hand man.
Bassist Wayne Seady decided to explore different boundaries in his life and travelled overseas. Original guitarist Jason Pretorius had a change of vision and explored different routes by forming The Black October. An issue that came to light was the fact that there already existed a settled band in Sweden called Born of Sin.
Some changes were required and the band went through a bit of corporate restructurement. During a solo project, Justin hooked up with Erwee Mare. Erwee use to be part of Corporate War in the beginning as a second guitarist but found the transition to bass very useful.
During a practice session, busy writing a new material, Justin mentioned that a good name for a song would be Effects of Grace. With Erwee always having the energy to go the extra mile, he came up with the name: A Fix for Grace, which the band is now known as.
With this Melodic Power Metal act focusing their music on everyday life occurrences and experiences, they try to portray a positive message to all those thats close to them. Everyone knows what is expected of them, where they stand with the band and most importantly understand one another. What makes this band so amazing and so special is the fact that everyone in A Fix for Grace are on the same wave length and has the same musical influences. Thats always a winning recipe.
Some of the bands highlights include: reaching the semi-finals of the Jack Hamers local Battle of the Bands; taking part in the Daily Dispatch Border Battle of the Bands in association with Algoa FM; playing at the East London leg of the National Paintball festival with our music being featured on the Supersport broadcast; opening for South African Metalcore act, Forever Will Burn, on the Port Elizabeth leg of their National Tour and for their official debut CD launch in PE.
Other future plans still include the shooting of a music video, getting more sponsorships and developing our official website.
